In the remaining weeks before the May primary election, PHIA will examine the positions of the various gubernatorial candidates regarding transportation funding.  First up is Democrat Joe Hoeffel, former congressman and currently a Montgomery County commissioner.

Hoeffel has said on several occasions that he would double Pennsylvania’s current $2.3 billion allocation for bridges and highways.  He said he supports increasing available revenue by raising the state gasoline tax, increasing license and registration fees, issuing bonds and entering into public-private partnerships.

He also said he supports increasing the state’s investment in public transportation.
