PennDOT finishes 2010 with $2.1 billion in lettings

December 16, 2010

The state Department of Transportation (PennDOT) put out just over $339 million in projects in December bringing the final year-end total to just above $2.1 billion.

The department let a total of 885 projects during the year totally $2.119 billion.  Just last month, PennDOT released its 2011 forecast stating they will target $1.7 billion in construction lettings. The decrease is largely due to the expiration of the federal Economic Stimulus payments as well as a decrease in state funding and stagnet federal funding.  To put into perspective, PennDOT’s lettings were $2.8 billion in 2009 due to the billion dollars in economic stimulus funds.
