Transportation Chair Wonderling to Leave Senate

June 2, 2009

Sen. Rob Wonderling (R-Lansdale), Senate Transportation Committee chair, will resign from the Senate in order to head the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

According to the Chamber’s announcement, Wonderling will assume his new duties on Aug. 1. Current Chamber President and CEO Mark Schweiker announced earlier this year that he would resign effective June 30 to join PRWT Services, Inc.

Wonderling succeeded Roger Madigan as committee chair in January after Madigan retired from the Senate.

“In his short tenure as chairman, Rob Wonderling has brought exceptional energy and a strong commitment to addressing the transportation funding issue, and the industry will miss his leadership in Harrisburg,” said PHIA Managing Director Jason Wagner. “On the positive side, we anticipate that he will continue to be a very influential voice on transportation issues in his new role. We wish him well and look forward to continuing to work with him.”
