your increased taxes to cover these bills will fall on those least able to pay ; why not tax those people who do not pay any taxes; your gov has shut down our business, and now you want us to pay more;
The taxes are imposed on those who use the infrastructure they are going to fix, not on people who don’t drive or don’t get speeding tickets. Read the condensed version and realize it will only cost you about $100/year more if you are a good driver.
Chris, your comment is very shortsighted. EVERYBODY used the infrastructure. Even if you don’t actually drive, you use goods transported by trucks, you get around on buses or taxis… etc. When you order something online, is shows up by vehicle in some manner or fashion. Increased taxes will be passed on to ALL consumers in the form of higher prices for everything.
What is missing here is that buried in the various funding reports are things like red-light cameras, speed cameras, etc. This has NOTHING to do with road construction. All of this works by using poor engineering and predatory enforcement. For RLC’s you will never see things like 85th percentile free-flowing traffic speed limits, longer yellow times, decent length all-red intervals, sensors to keep an all-red, etc. For speed cams, you will also not see realistic speed limits and cushions. I hope the group is aware of this silliness going on and calls the appropriate people out on it. This is all a great way to DECREASE safety and fleece safe drivers!
