Micozzie named to lead House Transportation Committee

MicozzieThe Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives formally named Rep. Nick Micozzie as the new chairman of the House Transportation Committee.  Micozzie replaces the late Rep. Dick Hess who passed away earlier this month.

Nicholas A. “Nick’ Micozzie was first elected to the House in 1978, and represents the 163rd Legislative District in Delaware County.  Before being named to head the Transportation Committee, he was the long time chairman of the House Insurance Committee. He did serve as a member of the House Transportation Committee this session.

Micozzie is known for his fairness and compassion for others, he got his start in public service at the local level, serving for many years as a councilman and then a commissioner in Upper Darby Township.

Born in Philadelphia, Nick Micozzie graduated from St. Thomas More High School in the city. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. Joseph’s College, Philadelphia and attended Villanova University.  Micozzie is a U.S. Air Force veteran who reached the rank of staff sergeant.

Nick Micozzie and his wife, June, have three children, Kathleen Micozzie O’Connor, Thomas and Kelly Ann Micozzie-Aguirre; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
