Pa. State Police and Pa. Turnpike team up to collect more than $2 million in unpaid tolls
It’s been a problem for years: people avoiding paying their toll bills. Throughout time, different attempts have been made to crack down on those numbers, and this year that enforcement was an initiative by the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Pennsylvania State Police.
Pa. Turnpike will continue to target toll evaders
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission warned drivers that they will continue to work with the Pennsylvania State Police to crack down on drivers who have failed to pay their tolls.
Pa. expands Turnpike contracting beyond lowest bid
Pennsylvania has authorized the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission to consider contractor qualifications, cost and delivery time when awarding construction work, replacing a lowest-bid-only approach that lawmakers argued can slow projects and increase long-term costs. The law permits the commission to use design-build-best-value procurement, a process that allows contracts to be awarded based on overall value rather than price alone.
Pennsylvania’s U.S 15 to become I-99 with reduced maximum weight for trucks
A 62-mile section of U.S. 15 in Lycoming and Tioga counties will officially become Interstate 99 (I-99) between Williamsport and the New York state line on Thursday, July 30. This designation marks a major milestone for north central PA. Converting U.S. 15 into I 99 strengthens the corridor’s infrastructure, supports freight movement, and ensures compliance with modern weight and design requirements.
